Water Pump - 3.0L: Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable (14301). For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  2. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING & BLEEDING - 3.0L & 4.0L .
  3. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube (9B659).
  4. Remove the fan blade (8600) and the fan shroud (8146). For additional information, refer to SHROUD - 3.0L & 4.0L .
  5. Disconnect the water bypass tube (8555).

  6. Remove the accessory drive belt (8620). For additional information, refer to SPECIFICATIONS & DRIVE BELT ROUTING .
  7. Remove the bolts and the water pump pulley (8509).

  8. Remove the bolts from the A/C compressor mounting bracket (2882).

  9. Disconnect the lower radiator hose.

  10. Remove the bolts and position the bracket and compressor aside.

  11. Remove the bolts and remove the water pump (8501).

  12. Clean the sealing surfaces.
