- Testing Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor - Connect Evaporative Emissions System Leak Tester (134-00056) to fuel filler pipe. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, close canister vent solenoid. Select OUTPUT TEST MODE, FTP and FTP V PID. Select ALL OFF mode. Press START button on scan tool to close canister vent solenoid. Pressurize system to 14 in. H2 O (3.48 kPa). If FTP V PID is 4.22-4.90 volts, go to next step. If FTP V PID is not 4.22-4.90 volts, go to step 3.
- Testing Venting Portion Of EVAP System For Blockage
Using scan tool, open canister vent solenoid by selecting STOP button. If pressure drops immediately, perform DRIVE CYCLE PROCEDURE under DIAGNOSTIC MONITORS in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V - GASOLINE & NGV article. Ensure PENDING CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is performed. If pressure does not drop immediately, go to step 7. - Testing Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor Operation
Move EVAP tester to evaporative emission test port. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, close canister vent solenoid. Select OUTPUT TEST MODE, FTP and FTP V PID. Select ALL OFF mode. Press START button on scan tool to close canister vent solenoid. Pressurize system to 14 in. H2 O (3.48 kPa). If FTP V PID is 4.22-4.90 volts, go to next step. If FTP V PID is not 4.22-4.90 volts, perform TEST HX: EVAPORATIVE EMISSION MONITOR & SYSTEM under SYSTEM TESTS in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V - GASOLINE & NGV article. - Testing For Location Of Blockage
Using scan tool, open canister vent solenoid by selecting STOP button. If pressure drops immediately, go to next step. If pressure does not drop immediately, go to step 7. - Testing For Pinched Or Blocked Fuel Vapor Control Valve Tube
Lower fuel tank about 3/4" (19 mm). Connect EVAP tester to fuel filler pipe. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, close canister vent solenoid. Select OUTPUT TEST MODE, FTP and FTP V PID. Select ALL OFF mode. Press START button on scan tool to close canister vent solenoid. Pressurize system to 14 in. H2 O (3.48 kPa). If FTP V PID is 4.22-4.90 volts, replace fuel vapor control tube assembly. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLE PROCEDURE under DIAGNOSTIC MONITORS in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V - GASOLINE & NGV article. Ensure PENDING CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is performed. If FTP V PID is not 4.22-4.90 volts, go to next step. - Testing Fuel Filler Tube Assembly
Disconnect tank vapor recirculation hose at fuel filler pipe and plug both openings. Pressurize system to 14 in. H2 O (3.48 kPa). Remove plug from tank vapor recirculation hose. If pressure drops immediately, replace fuel vapor control valve tube assembly. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLE PROCEDURE under DIAGNOSTIC MONITORS in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V - GASOLINE & NGV article. Ensure PENDING CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is performed. If pressure does not drop immediately, replace fuel filler pipe assembly. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLE PROCEDURE under DIAGNOSTIC MONITORS in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V - GASOLINE & NGV article. Ensure PENDING CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is performed. - Testing Fresh Air Vent Hose
Disconnect fresh air vent hose from inside trunk. Pressurize system to 14 in. H2 O (3.48 kPa). If pressure drops immediately, replace fresh air vent hose. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLE PROCEDURE under DIAGNOSTIC MONITORS in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V - GASOLINE & NGV article. Ensure PENDING CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is performed. If pressure does not drop immediately, go to next step. - Testing Fresh Air Vent Hose At Fuel Filler Pipe
Disconnect fresh air vent hose at fuel filler pipe. Pressurize system to 14 in. H2 OH2 O (3.48 kPa). If pressure drops immediately, replace fuel filler pipe. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLE PROCEDURE under DIAGNOSTIC MONITORS in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V - GASOLINE & NGV article. Ensure PENDING CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is performed. If pressure does not drop immediately, go to next step. - Testing Tank Vapor Valve Assembly
Disconnect tank vapor valve assembly fresh air tube from canister vent solenoid vent hose. Pressurize system to 14 in. H2 O (3.48 kPa). If pressure drops immediately, replace tank vapor valve assembly fresh air tube. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLE PROCEDURE under DIAGNOSTIC MONITORS in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V - GASOLINE & NGV article. Ensure PENDING CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is performed. If pressure does not drop immediately, go to next step. - Testing Canister Vent Solenoid Hose Assembly For Blockage
Disconnect canister vent solenoid hose assembly. Pressurize system to 14 in. H2 O (3.48 kPa). If pressure drops immediately, replace canister vent solenoid hose assembly. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLE PROCEDURE under DIAGNOSTIC MONITORS in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V - GASOLINE & NGV article. Ensure PENDING CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is performed. If pressure does not drop immediately, go to next step. - Testing Canister Vent Solenoid For Blockage
Remove canister vent solenoid. Pressurize system to 14 in. H2 O (3.48 kPa). If pressure drops immediately, replace canister vent solenoid. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLE PROCEDURE under DIAGNOSTIC MONITORS in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V - GASOLINE & NGV article. Ensure PENDING CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is performed. If pressure does not drop immediately, go to next step. - Testing EVAP Canister
Disconnect EVAP canister inlet elbow tube. Pressurize system to 14 in. H2 O (3.48 kPa). If pressure drops immediately, replace EVAP canister. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLE PROCEDURE under DIAGNOSTIC MONITORS in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V - GASOLINE & NGV article. Ensure PENDING CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is performed. If pressure does not drop immediately, go to next step. - Testing EVAP Canister Inlet Elbow Tube
Disconnect fuel vapor valve tube assembly from EVAP canister inlet elbow tube. Pressurize system to 14 in. H2 O (3.48 kPa). If pressure drops immediately, replace EVAP canister inlet elbow tube. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLE PROCEDURE under DIAGNOSTIC MONITORS in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V - GASOLINE & NGV article. Ensure PENDING CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is performed. If pressure does not drop immediately, replace fuel vapor valve tube assembly. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST .
