Fuel System Pressure Release
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Lincoln Navigator, 2002 Lincoln Blackwood, 2002 Ford Pickup, and 2002 Ford Expedition. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
For bi-fuel system alternate fuel pressure release procedures, see REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION - F150 PICKUP - BI-FUEL
article.
WARNING:
ALWAYS relieve fuel pressure before disconnecting any component under fuel pressure. DO NOT allow fuel to contact engine or electrical components.
- Remove fuel tank cap. Using Fuel Pressure Gauge (T80L-9974-B), release pressure from system at pressure relief valve (Schrader valve) located on fuel injection manifold rail.
- If fuel pressure gauge is not available, disconnect Inertia Fuel Shutoff (IFS) switch, located in right side kick panel. Remove fuel filler cap to release fuel tank pressure. Crank engine for 15 seconds to release system pressure.
