High-Pressure Oil Pump Drive Gear: Installation

- Position the drive gear into the crankcase front cover. Install the high-pressure oil pump. See HIGH-PRESSURE OIL PUMP .
- Position the drive gear onto the oil pump, and install the oil pump drive gear bolt and washer. See Figure. Tighten oil pump drive gear bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Position the Dial Indicator with Brackets (100-002, TOOL-4201-C), onto the oil pump drive gear, and check the drive gear backlash. See Fig 1. If not within specification, replace the drive gear.
- Install the high-pressure oil pump reservoir. See HIGH-PRESSURE OIL PUMP RESERVOIR .
CAUTION:
Make sure that the drive gear is fully seated on the high-pressure oil pump before installing the bolt and washer. Otherwise the drive gear may not seat properly, causing binding or slippage resulting in a no oil flow condition.
