Valve Cover LH: Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly and the air cleaner outlet tube.
  3. Disconnect the following:
    1. The oil filler tube
    2. The positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) fresh air tube

  4. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose.

  5. Remove the engine cover. For additional information, refer to FRONT END BODY PANELS .
  6. Remove the oil level indicator tube extension and oil level indicator.

  7. Remove the oil level indicator tube and bracket.

  8. Remove the engine lifting eye.

  9. Disconnect the spark plug separators from the valve covers.

  10. Disconnect the ignition wires from the spark plugs and position out of the way.

  11. Remove the valve cover and discard the gasket.

  12. Clean the mating surface.
