Extension Housing Gasket - 4X4: Installation

- Clean the extension housing and install a new extension housing gasket. Make sure that the parking pawl, spring and shaft are correctly installed.
- Install the extension housing.
- Position the extension housing and install the six extension housing screws and studs.
- Install the transmission mount.
- Position the transmission mount on the extension housing.
- Install the screws.
- Install the transmission mount into the crossmember and tighten the nuts.
- Install the wire harness locators from the extension housing wire bracket.
- Install the transfer case. For additional information, refer to TRANSFER CASE - AUTOMATIC SHIFT .
- Align and install the rear driveshaft.
- Install the bolts.
- Fill the transmission to correct fluid level and check for correct transmission operation.
- Use MERCON® V Automatic Transmission Fluid XT-5-QM or equivalent meeting MERCON® V specification.
CAUTION:
Make sure the parking lever actuating rod is correctly seated into the case parking rod guide cup.
NOTE:
Align the driveshaft with the marks made during removal to ensure correct balance.
