Master Cylinder: Reassembly

  1. Coat bore of cylinder and piston assemblies with clean brake fluid. Install "O" ring. Install new seals on secondary piston assembly. Install secondary piston assembly with piston hole facing stop pin.
  2. Install "O" ring and stop pin. Push and release piston to verify that piston is being held by stop pin. Install primary piston assembly, stopper and piston guide. Install spacer and snap ring. Lubricate reservoir seals with clean brake fluid and install in master cylinder.
  3. Ensure seals are properly seated. Place reservoir on hard surface, and install plastic reservoir with a rocking motion. Install reservoir screw and fluid level sensor. Fill reservoir with clean brake fluid and bleed brakes. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM .


  1. Coat bore of cylinder and piston assemblies with clean brake fluid. Install secondary and primary piston assemblies into bore. Press primary piston inward, and install snap ring. Lubricate reservoir seals with clean brake fluid. Install seals in master cylinder.
  2. Ensure seals are properly seated. Place reservoir on hard surface and install plastic reservoir with a rocking motion. Install fluid level sensor and fill reservoir with clean brake fluid and bleed brakes. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM .
