Test Procedure

NOTE: Proceed to DTC testing steps listed in FAULT CODE SETTING CONDITION  table of fault code setting condition.

  1. DG1 KOER AND CONTINUOUS MEMORY DTCS P0325 AND P0326: CHECK THE RESISTANCE OF KS1 
    • Verify the KS is connected and properly installed.
    • KS connector disconnected.
    • Measure the resistance between:
    ( + )KS Connector, Component Side ( - )KS Connector, Component Side
    KS1- KS1+

    Is the resistance between 4.39M ohms - 5.35M ohms? 

    Yes No
    KEY OFF.
    GO to  DG3.
    INSTALL a new KS.
  2. DG2 KOER AND CONTINUOUS MEMORY DTCS P0330 AND P0331: CHECK THE RESISTANCE OF KS2 
    • Verify the KS is connected and properly installed.
    • KS connector disconnected.
    • Measure the resistance between:
    ( + )KS2 Sensor Connector, Component Side ( - )KS2 Sensor Connector, Component Side
    KS2- KS2+

    Is the resistance between 4.39M ohms - 5.35M ohms? 

    Yes No
    KEY OFF.
    GO to  DG4.
    INSTALL a new KS2 sensor.
  3. DG3 CHECK THE KS1+ CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN IN THE HARNESS 
    • PCM connector disconnected.
    • Measure the resistance between:
    ( + )KS Connector, Harness Side ( - )PCM Connector, Harness Side
    KS1+ KS1+

    Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    Yes No
    GO to  DG5. REPAIR open circuit.
  4. DG4 CHECK THE KS2+ CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN IN THE HARNESS 
    • Measure the resistance between:
    ( + )KS2 Sensor Connector, Harness Side ( - )PCM Connector, Harness Side
    KS2+ KS2+

    Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    Yes No
    GO to  DG6. REPAIR open circuit.
  5. DG5 CHECK THE KS1- CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN IN THE HARNESS 
    • Measure the resistance between:
    ( + )KS Connector, Harness Side ( - )PCM Connector, Harness Side
    KS1- KS1-

    Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    Yes No
    GO to  DG7. REPAIR open circuit.
  6. DG6 CHECK THE KS2- CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN IN THE HARNESS 
    • Measure the resistance between:
    ( + )KS2 Sensor Connector, Harness Side ( - )PCM Connector, Harness Side
    KS2- KS2-

    Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    Yes No
    GO to  DG8. REPAIR open circuit.
  7. DG7 CHECK THE KS1+ CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND IN THE HARNESS 
    • Measure the resistance between:
    ( + )KS Connector, Component Side ( - )Vehicle battery
    KS1+ Negative terminal

    Is the resistance greater than 10K ohms? 

    Yes No
    GO to  DG9. REPAIR short circuit to GND.
  8. DG8 CHECK THE KS2+ CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND IN THE HARNESS 
    • Measure the resistance between:
    ( + )KS2 Sensor Connector, Component Side ( - )Vehicle battery
    KS2+ Negative terminal

    Is the resistance greater than 10K ohms? 

    Yes No
    GO to  DG10. REPAIR short circuit to GND.
  9. DG9 CHECK THE KS1- CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND IN THE HARNESS 
    • Measure the resistance between:
    ( + )KS Connector, Harness Side ( - )Vehicle battery
    KS1- Negative terminal

    Is the resistance greater than 10K ohms? 

    Yes No
    GO to  DG11. REPAIR short circuit to GND.
  10. DG10 CHECK THE KS2- CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND IN THE HARNESS 
    • Measure the resistance between:
    ( + )KS2 Sensor Connector, Harness Side ( - )Vehicle battery
    KS2- Negative terminal

    Is the resistance greater than 10K ohms? 

    Yes No
    GO to  DG12. REPAIR short circuit to GND.
  11. DG11 CHECK THE KS1+ CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO POWER IN THE HARNESS 
    • Measure the resistance between:
    ( + )KS Connector, Harness Side ( - )PCM Connector, Harness Side
    KS1+ VPWR
    KS1+ VREF

    Are the resistances greater than 10K ohms? 

    Yes No
    GO to  DG13. REPAIR short circuit to PWR.
  12. DG12 CHECK THE KS2+ CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO POWER IN THE HARNESS 
    • l Measure the resistance between:
    ( + )KS2 Sensor Connector, Harness Side ( - )PCM Connector, Harness Side
    KS2+ VREF
    KS2+ VPWR

    Are the resistances greater than 10K ohms? 

    Yes No
    GO to  DG14. REPAIR short circuit to PWR.
  13. DG13 CHECK THE KS1- CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO POWER IN THE HARNESS 
    • Measure the resistance between:
    ( + )KS Connector, Harness Side ( - )PCM Connector, Harness Side
    KS1- VREF
    KS1- VPWR

    Are the resistances greater than 10K ohms? 

    Yes No
    GO to  DG15. REPAIR short circuit to PWR.
  14. DG14 CHECK THE KS2- CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO POWER IN THE HARNESS 
    • Measure the resistance between:
    ( + )KS2 Sensor Connector, Harness Side ( - )PCM Connector, Harness Side
    KS2- VREF
    KS2- VPWR

    Are the resistances greater than 10K ohms? 

    Yes No
    GO to  DG16. REPAIR short circuit to PWR.
  15. DG15 CHECK THE KS1- CIRCUIT FOR INTERMITTENT FAULTS 
    NOTE: Carefully wiggle all accessible wiring and connectors associated with the KS circuit.
    • Measure the resistance between:
    ( + )KS Connector, Harness Side ( - )PCM Connector, Harness Side
    KS1- KS1-

    Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    Yes No
    GO to  DG17. REPAIR open circuit.
  16. DG16 CHECK THE KS2- CIRCUIT FOR INTERMITTENT FAULTS 
    NOTE: Carefully wiggle all accessible wiring and connectors associated with the KS circuit.
    • Measure the resistance between:
    ( + )KS2 Sensor Connector, Harness Side ( - )PCM Connector, Harness Side
    KS2- KS2-

    Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    Yes No
    GO to  DG18. REPAIR open circuit.
  17. DG17 CHECK THE KS1+ CIRCUIT FOR INTERMITTENT FAULTS 
    NOTE: Carefully wiggle all accessible wiring and connectors associated with the KS circuit.
    • Measure the resistance between:
    ( + )KS Connector, Harness Side ( - )PCM Connector, Harness Side
    KS1+ KS1+

    Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    Yes No
    GO to  DG19. REPAIR open circuit.
  18. DG18 CHECK THE KS2+ CIRCUIT FOR INTERMITTENT FAULTS 
    NOTE: Carefully wiggle all accessible wiring and connectors associated with the KS circuit.
    • Measure the resistance between:
    ( + )KS2 Sensor Connector, Harness Side ( - )PCM Connector, Harness Side
    KS2+ KS2+

    Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    Yes No
    GO to  DG20. REPAIR open circuit.
  19. DG19 CHECK THE PCM INTERNAL RESISTANCE OF THE CIRCUIT FOR KS1 
    NOTE: The following measurement is intended to check the PCM internal resistance.
    • Measure the resistance between:
    ( + )KS Connector, Component Side ( - )KS Connector, Component Side
    KS1+ KS1-

    Is the resistance greater than 10K ohms? 

    Yes No
    INSTALL a new KS. INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to FLASH ELECTRICALLY ERASEABLE PROGRAMMABLE READ ONLY MEMORY - FLASH EEPROM .
  20. DG20 CHECK THE PCM INTERNAL RESISTANCE OF THE CIRCUIT FOR KS2 
    NOTE: The following measurement is intended to check the PCM internal resistance.
    • Measure the resistance between:
    ( + )KS2 Sensor Connector, Component Side ( - )KS2 Sensor Connector, Component Side
    KS2+ KS2-

    Is the resistance greater than 10K ohms? 

    Yes No
    INSTALL a new KS2 sensor. INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to FLASH ELECTRICALLY ERASEABLE PROGRAMMABLE READ ONLY MEMORY - FLASH EEPROM .
