Removal & Installation

- Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Ensure front wheels are in straight-ahead position. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Remove clockspring. See CLOCKSPRING .
- Loosen steering wheel retaining bolt. Mark steering wheel hub and steering shaft for installation reference. Using appropriate 2-jaw puller, loosen steering wheel from steering column. Remove and discard steering wheel retaining bolt. Remove steering wheel.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Install NEW steering wheel retaining bolt. Tighten steering wheel bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Check AIR BAG warning light for proper system function. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
