Normal Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2011 Mercury Milan, 2011 Lincoln MKZ, and 2011 Ford Fusion. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The yaw rate sensor, lateral accelerometer and longitudinal accelerometer are contained in Restraints Control Module (RCM). The RCM measures vehicle yaw rate, lateral acceleration and longitudinal acceleration and then sends the information to the ABS module along the dedicated Controller Area Network (CAN) bus. This dedicated CAN bus is used only for communication between the RCM and the ABS module. The information sent to the ABS module is used to help determine if the AdvanceTrac® system needs to be activated.

DTC DESCRIPTION TABLE

DTC Description Fault Trigger Conditions
  • C2777 - Sensor Cluster Bus Failure
  • U0151 - Lost Communication With Restraints Control Module (RCM)
  • U1901 - CAN Network #2 Communication Bus Fault
If, during normal operation or the ABS module on-demand self test the ABS module detects an open circuit, a short to voltage or a short to ground on one or both of the dedicated CAN bus circuits, or a failure of the RCM causes the appropriate DTC to set.
  • C1963 - Stability Control Inhibit Warning
If conditions exist during normal operation that prevent the AdvanceTrac® system from operating, DTC C1963 sets. This DTC is usually set due to the steering wheel rotation sensor or the RCM being damaged or installed incorrectly.
  • U0452 - Invalid Data Received From RCM
This DTC indicates that one or more of the stability/traction control system sensors internal to the RCM have failed and the RCM is transmitting on "invalid data" message.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
