Stabilizer Bar and Link - Rear: Notes

CAUTION: Use the hex holding feature to prevent the ball studs from turning when removing the ball stud nuts.
NOTE: Only carry out Step 1 if servicing the stabilizer bar.
  1. For reference during the installation of the upper arm-to-frame fasteners, measure the distance between the center of the wheel hub and the lip of the fender with the weight of the vehicle resting on the wheel and tire assemblies.

  2. Remove both rear tires and wheels.
  3. Remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.
    TO REMOVE INDIVIDUAL PARTS, ONLY CARRY OUT THE LISTED STEPS

    Components Steps
    Stabilizer Bar Links 1-3
    Stabilizer Bar Bushing 4-8
    Stabilizer Bar 2, 4-12
  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  5. Before tightening the upper arm-to-frame fasteners, position a jack under the lower arm and raise the vehicle until the distance between the center of the hub and the lip of fender is equal to the measurement taken during the removal procedure.
