Removal & Installation

- Remove the ignition coil-on-plugs. For additional information, refer to Ignition Coil-On-Plug .
- Remove the spark plugs.
- To install, tighten to 18 Nm (13 lb-ft).
- Inspect the spark plugs. For additional information, refer to ENGINE SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION article.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Adjust the spark plug gap on gasoline engines to 1.32-1.42 mm (0.052-0.056 in).
- Adjust the spark plug gap on flexible fuel engines to 1.04-1.19 mm (0.041-0.047 in).
CAUTION:
Only use hand tools when removing or installing the spark plugs, or damage can occur to the cylinder head or spark plug.
NOTE:
Use compressed air to remove any foreign material from the spark plug well before removing the spark plugs.
