Pinpoint Test L: DTC U0131:00

  1. L1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Verify that there is an observable symptom present.
    • Is an observable symptom present? 
    • Yes:  GO to L2  .
    • No:  The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  2. L2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Network Test.
    • Carry out the network test.
    • Does the PSCM pass the network test? 
  3. L3 RECHECK THE PAM DTCs 
    • Clear the DTCs.
    • Operate the system and test the system for normal operation.
    • Repeat the PAM  self-test.
    • Is DTC U0131:00 still present? 
    • Yes:  GO to L4  .
    • No:  The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  4. L4 CHECK FOR DTC U0131:00 IN OTHER MODULES 
    • Clear all DTCs.
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Wait 10 seconds.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self-Test.
    • Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules.
    • Is DTC U0131:00 set in any module? 
    • Yes:  INSTALL a new steering column. REFER to STEERING COLUMN . TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No:  GO to L5  .
  5. L5 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM OPERATION 
    • Disconnect the PAM  connector.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • damaged pins
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect the PAM  connector and make sure it seats correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    • Yes:  INSTALL a new PAM  . REFER to PARKING AID MODULE (PAM) . TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No:  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
