Cross Traffic Alert (CTA)
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Mercury Milan, 2010 Lincoln MKZ, and 2010 Ford Fusion. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
The BLIS™
and CTA
system share the same exterior mirror LEDs, SOD-L
and SOD-R
for system components.
The CTA system consists of:
- SOD-L (located at the lower LH rear quarter panel behind the rear bumper cover)
- SOD-R (located at the lower RH rear quarter panel behind the rear bumper cover)
- CTA
customer ON/OFF feature (integral to the IPC
message center)NOTE: CTA customer ON/OFF feature is not available on early build hybrid vehicles.
- Exterior mirror BLIS™ /CTA LEDs (integral to the left and right exterior mirrors)
The CTA system assists the driver in backing out of a parking space. The CTA system uses the SOD-L , SOD-R , exterior mirror BLIS™ /CTA LEDs, a warning chime from the parking aid speaker and a message in the IPC message center to notify the driver of impending traffic.
When the vehicle is in REVERSE (R) the CTA system can detect a vehicle that is approaching at a speed up to 24 km/h (15 mph) and is approximately 13.7 m (45 ft) from the side of the vehicle on the left or right side. The CTA system's response time and performance can degrade if vehicles are approaching at speeds greater than 24 km/h (15 mph).
