Normal Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Mercury Milan, 2010 Lincoln MKZ, and 2010 Ford Fusion. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

During each vehicle start sequence, when the key is turned to the START or ON position, the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) transceiver reads the PATS  key identification code and sends the data to the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). If there is a bad transponder in the Integrated Keyhead Transmitter (IKT) key that is in the ignition lock cylinder, or if there was a concern during the programming of the IKT  key, DTC B10D7:05 can set, and the vehicle experiences a PATS  no-start.
