Cooler Bypass Valve: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
  2. Remove the retainer, the 5 bolts and the LH splash shield.

  4. Disconnect and remove the rear cooler tube fitting from the transaxle case.

  6. Disconnect and remove the fluid cooler tube bracket and bolt from the transaxle case.

  8. Remove the radiator grille. For additional information, refer to EXTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION article.
  9. NOTE: Do not remove the steel tube from the converter housing.
  10. Disconnect the front transmission fluid cooler hose from the transaxle case.

  12. Disconnect the transmission fluid cooler hoses from the transmission fluid combo cooler and discard the transmission fluid cooler tubes.

  14. Remove the 2 bolts from the lower LH side of the main control cover.
