Brake System: Notes

The brake system consists of the following components:
- Brake master cylinder.
- Power brake booster.
- Parking brake control and cables.
- 4-wheel anti-lock brake hydraulic control unit.
- 4-wheel anti-lock brake hydraulic control module.
- Front disc brake assembly.
- Rear drum brake assembly.
The Ranger is equipped with a vacuum-assisted power braking system. The braking system is a front-to-rear split hydraulic system. The front brakes utilize a dual piston brake caliper and disc brake system. The rear drum brakes use a self-adjusting system. The parking brake system uses the rear drum brakes and is self-adjusting. 4-Wheel Anti-Lock Brake System (4WABS) is standard equipment.
