Removal & Installation (Aft Tank)

- Disconnect negative battery cable. On vehicles with dual batteries, see DUAL BATTERIES under MISCELLANEOUS. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE .
- Drain fuel from fuel tank. See FUEL TANK DRAINING PROCEDURE .
- Raise and support the vehicle. Disconnect fuel tank filler pipe hose and filler pipe vent tube from fuel tank. Position a High-Lift Transmission Jack under fuel tank. Remove 4 fuel tank cover strap bolts.
- Partially lower the fuel tank. Disconnect fuel lines from fuel pump. See FUEL LINE CONNECTORS . Disconnect fuel pump electrical connector. Lower fuel tank.
- If a new fuel tank is being installed, transfer necessary components to new fuel tank. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten fuel tank cover strap bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
