Removal & Installation

NOTE: Spring Gauge 211-034 (T74P-3504-Y) is required to perform this procedure. See Figure.
  1. Remove charge air cooler inlet and outlet ducts from compressor manifold. See Figure.
  2. Loosen exhaust outlet pipe marmon clamp at turbocharger and pull exhaust pipe away from exhaust backpressure valve. See Fig 1.
  3. Disconnect backpressure valve by sliding the retaining clip toward turbocharger housing and disconnecting exhaust backpressure valve actuator rod from the exhaust backpressure valve. Remove 6 exhaust backpressure valve bolts and remove exhaust backpressure valve.
  4. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten 6 exhaust backpressure valve bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Using the Spring Gauge, adjust the control rod length until 10 lbs. (4.5 kg) of force is required to fully close the exhaust backpressure valve. See Fig 2.
