Removal & Installation

NOTE: Spring Gauge 211-034 (T74P-3504-Y) is required to perform this procedure. See Figure .
  1. Remove engine cover. See ENGINE COVER  under MISCELLANEOUS. Remove turbocharger heat shield.
  2. Loosen marmon clamp and pull exhaust outlet pipe away from turbocharger. See Fig 1 .
  3. Disconnect the control rod from exhaust backpressure valve and remove bolts retaining exhaust backpressure valve to turbocharger.
  4. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten exhaust backpressure valve bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Using the Spring Gauge, adjust the control rod length until 10 lbs. (4.5 kg) of force is required to fully close the exhaust backpressure valve. See Fig 2 .
