Removal & Installation

NOTE:
Spring Gauge 211-034 (T74P-3504-Y) is required to perform this procedure. See Figure
.
- Remove engine cover. See ENGINE COVER under MISCELLANEOUS. Remove turbocharger heat shield.
- Loosen marmon clamp and pull exhaust outlet pipe away from turbocharger. See Fig 1 .
- Disconnect the control rod from exhaust backpressure valve and remove bolts retaining exhaust backpressure valve to turbocharger.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten exhaust backpressure valve bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Using the Spring Gauge, adjust the control rod length until 10 lbs. (4.5 kg) of force is required to fully close the exhaust backpressure valve. See Fig 2 .
