Removal & Installation (4.2L)

Disconnect negative battery cable. On vehicles with dual batteries, see DUAL BATTERIES under MISCELLANEOUS. Remove 4 air cleaner assembly bolts and loosen air cleaner outlet pipe clamp. Position air cleaner assembly to gain access to Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor electrical connector and disconnect MAF sensor electrical connector. Remove air cleaner assembly. Loosen clamp at throttle body and remove air cleaner outlet pipe. Disconnect Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve vacuum hose and EGR valve tube upper fitting. Remove EGR valve bolts and remove EGR valve. See Figure. Discard the gasket. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Tighten all fasteners and fitting to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
