Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. On vehicles with dual batteries, see DUAL BATTERIES  under MISCELLANEOUS. Raise and support vehicle. Loosen clamps and remove Evaporative Emission (EVAP) purge outlet tube and disconnect canister vent solenoid electrical connector. Remove EVAP canister and bracket assembly. See Fig 1.
  2. Remove EVAP canister vent solenoid retainer by sliding retainer off of bracket. See Figure. Remove EVAP canister vent valve using a twisting and pulling motion. Remove EVAP canister outlet elbow using a twisting and pulling motion.
  3. Remove EVAP canister bolt and mounting bracket. Remove EVAP canister. To install, reverse removal procedure. Inspect and install NEW "O" ring seals as necessary. Ensure EVAP system does not leak. Perform after repair procedure. See AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE  under EMISSION SYSTEMS & SUB-SYSTEMS.
