Pinpoint Test E: DTC C1446: Testing

- E1 MONITOR THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SWITCH (PCM) PID
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Powertrain Module PID
- Press and release the brake pedal while monitoring the PCM brake pedal switch (BOO) PID.
- Does the PID agree with the brake pedal position?
- YES : Go to E2.
- NO : REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING article to continue diagnosis of the stoplamps.
- E2 MONITOR THE ANTI-LOCK (ABS) MODULE (BOO) PID
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: ABS Module PID
- Press and release the brake pedal while monitoring the ABS brake pedal switch (BOO) PID.
- Does the PID agree with the brake pedal position?
- YES : INSTALL a ABS module. REFER to Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module in this article. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- NO : Go to E3.
- E3 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION
- Disconnect the ABS connector.
- Check for:
- corrosion.
- pushed-out pins.
- spread terminals.
- Connect the ABS connector and make sure that it is seated correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- YES : INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module in this article. TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
