Natural gas components and gasoline fuel components are not interchangeable. Use of improper parts or materials could result in engine damage, fire or personal injury.
Natural gas fuel indication system consists of Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) module assembly, Powertrain Control Module (PCM), fuel gauge, fuel tank pressure sensor, tank temperature sensor and related circuitry.
NGV module assembly consists of a 60-pin module, a waterproof cover and 4 cover retainers. NGV module houses the unique electronics required for natural gas fuel systems. NGV module features injector drivers and fuel gauge driver. NGV module monitors fuel tank pressure sensor, fuel tank temperature sensor, fuel gauge and related circuitry, and is able to perform self-diagnostics on natural gas system. NGV module Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) may be retrieved with New Generation Star (NGS) tester or a generic OBD-II scan tool. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM .
Fuel tank pressure sensor sends a voltage signal to NGV module that is proportional to pressure in tank. Fuel tank pressure sensor can range from 50-4000 psi (344.75-27,580 kPa). Fuel tank temperature sensor sends a voltage signal to NGV module. When temperature increases in fuel tank, resistance at fuel temperature sensor decreases.
