Removal And Installation

CAUTION: While repairing the power steering system, care should be taken to prevent the entry of contaminants or premature failure of the power steering components can result.
  1. Using a suitable suction device, drain the power steering fluid reservoir.
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION AND FILTERING article.
  3. NOTE: Thoroughly clean all foreign material from the threads.
  4. Disconnect the pressure line-to-booster fitting.
    • To install, tighten to 27 Nm (20 lb-ft).
  5. Disconnect the pressure line from the retaining clip.
  6. NOTE: Thoroughly clean all foreign material from the threads.
  7. Disconnect the pressure line-to-steering gear fitting and remove the pressure line.
    • To install, tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
  8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
