Preliminary Inspection
Verify customer's complaint by observing indicators and gauges to determine correct operation with ignition switch in ON position and engine off. Check for stuck gauge needle. Check for low brake fluid level, low coolant level or low engine oil level. Check for damaged engine oil filter and/or oil pump, fuel tank, instrument cluster, vehicle speed sensor and worn or damaged generator drive belt.
Check for damaged wiring harness, loose or corroded connections, or damaged switches and sensors. Check Central Junction Box (CJB) fuses No. 2 (15-amp) and No. 14 (5-amp). See Fig 1. CJB is located under left side of instrument panel, near left kick panel. Check Battery Junction Box (BJB) fuse No. 4 (10-amp). See Fig 2. BJB is located in left side of engine compartment, on wheelwell.
Check function of charging, cooling, engine oiling, and fuel delivery systems. Repair or replace as necessary. If no problems are found on natural gas models, check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC). See ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - ECONOLINE - CNG article. If no problems are found on diesel or gasoline models, diagnose by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX table under SYSTEM TESTS.
