WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Ford RV Cutaway, 2002 Ford F450 Super Duty, 2002 Ford Econoline, 2002 Ford E450 Super Duty, and 2002 Ford Cutaway. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster White 16-pin harness connector C220c. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster connector C220c terminal No. 6 (component side). See Fig 1. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster White 16-pin harness connector C220c. Disconnect ABDM Gray 28-pin harness connector C2209. ABDM is located under right side of instrument panel. Measure resistance of Black/Yellow wire between instrument cluster White 16-pin harness connector C220c terminal No. 6 and ABDM Gray 28-pin harness connector C2209 terminal No. 7. See Figure and Fig 2 . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair air bag system problem. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article in RESTRAINTS. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black/Yellow wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Retest system operation.
NOTE:
Air Bag Diagnostic Monitor (ABDM) may also be referred to as Electronic Crash Sensor (ECS) module.
