Pinpoint Test U: The Reversing Lamps Are On Continuously

  1. U1 CHECK THE DIGITAL TR SENSOR OR REVERSING LAMP SWITCH 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Digital TR Sensor C167 or Reversing Lamp Switch C169
    • Key in ON position.
    • Do the reversing lamps continue to illuminate? 
    1. YES  : Go to  U2.
    2. NO  : For vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, INSTALL a new digital TR sensor. REFER to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - 4R70E/4R75E article. TEST the system for normal operation.

      For vehicles equipped with a manual transmission, INSTALL a new reversing lamp switch. TEST the system for normal operation.

  2. U2 CHECK THE CJB 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: CJB C270b
    • Key in ON position.
    • Do the reversing lamps continue to illuminate? 
    1. YES  : Go to  U3.
    2. NO  : REPAIR or INSTALL a new CJB. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. U3 CHECK THE PARKING AID MODULE 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Parking Aid Module C2023
    • Key in ON position.
    • Do the reversing lamps continue to illuminate? 
    1. YES  : Go to  U4.
    2. NO  : Go to  U5.
  4. U4 CHECK CIRCUIT 1043 (DG/YE) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Electrochromatic Mirror C911
    • Key in ON position.
    • Do the reversing lamps continue to illuminate? 
    1. YES  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : INSTALL a new inside mirror. REFER to REAR VIEW MIRRORS article. TEST the system for normal operation.
  5. U5 CHECK FOR CORRECT PARKING AID MODULE OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all the parking aid module connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • damaged pins
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the parking aid module connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new parking aid module. REFER to PARKING AID article. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
