Pinpoint Test T: The Reversing Lamps Are Inoperative
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Lincoln Mark LT and 2007 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
- T1 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE DIGITAL TR SENSOR OR THE REVERSING LAMP SWITCH
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Digital TR Sensor C167 or Reversing Lamp Switch C169
- Key in ON position.
- For vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, measure the voltage between the digital TR sensor C167-9, circuit 295 (LB/PK), harness side and ground.
- For vehicles equipped with a manual transmission, measure the voltage between the reversing lamp switch C169-2, circuit 295 (LB/PK), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

- T2 CHECK CIRCUIT 295 (LB/PK) FOR AN OPEN
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: CJB C270b
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between the CJB C270b pin 1, circuit 295 (LB/PK), component side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- YES : REPAIR circuit 295 (LB/PK). TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : REPAIR or INSTALL a new CJB. TEST the system for normal operation.
- T3 CHECK THE REVERSING LAMP OPERATION
- Key in OFF position.
- For vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, connect a fused (10A) jumper wire between the digital TR sensor C167-11, circuit 1043 (DG/YE), harness side and the digital TR sensor C167-9, circuit 295 (LB/PK), harness side.
- For vehicles with a manual transmission, connect a fused (10A) jumper wire between the reversing lamp switch C169-1, circuit 1043 (DG/YE), harness side and the reversing lamp switch C169-2, circuit 295 (LB/PK), harness side.
- Key in ON position.
- Do the reversing lamps illuminate?
- YES
: For vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, INSTALL a new digital TR sensor. REFER to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - 4R70E/4R75E
article. TEST the system for normal operation.
For vehicles equipped with a manual transmission, INSTALL a new reversing lamp switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : REMOVE the jumper wire. Go to T4 .
- T4 CHECK CIRCUIT 1043 (DG/YE) OR CIRCUIT 140 (BK/PK) FOR AN OPEN
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: LH Reversing Lamp C451 or RH Reversing Lamp C461
- For vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, measure the resistance between digital TR sensor C167-11, circuit 1043 (DG/YE), harness side and LH reversing lamp C451-3 or RH reversing lamp C461-3, circuit 1043 (DG/YE) or circuit 140 (BK/PK) (early build), harness side.
- For vehicles equipped with a manual transmission, measure the resistance between the reversing lamp switch C169-1, circuit 1043 (DG/YE), harness side and the LH reversing lamp C451-3 or the RH reversing lamp C461-3, circuit 1043 (DG/YE) or circuit 140 (BK/PK) (early build), harness side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
