Both cylinder heads

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
  2. Remove the lower intake manifold. For additional information, refer to Lower Intake Manifold  in this article.
  3. Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner counterclockwise and remove the accessory drive belt.

    NOTE: LH shown, RH similar.
  1. Remove the 2 cylinder block drain plugs.

  3. Remove and discard the 4 short and 4 long cylinder head bolts.
  4. Remove the cylinder head and the gasket. Discard the gasket.
