Removal And Installation

- Drain the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this article.
- Remove the air cleaner intake pipe. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION AND FILTERING article.
- If servicing the thermostat housing, release the clamp and disconnect the upper radiator hose from the thermostat housing.
- Remove the bolts and the thermostat housing.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- Remove the thermostat and the O-ring seal. Discard the O-ring seal.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install a new O-ring seal and lubricate it with clean engine coolant.
- Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this article.
