Valve Cover - RH: Removal

  1. Remove the suction accumulator. For additional information, refer to CLIMATE CONTROL article.
  2. Disconnect the quick connect couplings and remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) tube. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION article.
  3. Disconnect the PCV valve electrical connector.

  5. Disconnect the vacuum tube connector.

  7. Remove the bolt and position the transmission fluid level indicator tube aside.

  9. Disconnect the engine wiring harness retainers from the valve cover stud bolts.
  10. CAUTION: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges which make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove all traces of old sealant.
  11. Remove the 11 fasteners and remove the RH valve cover.
    • Clean the valve cover mating surface of the cylinder head with silicone gasket remover and metal surface prep. Follow the directions on the packaging.
    • Discard the valve cover gasket. Clean the valve cover gasket groove with soap and water or a suitable solvent.
