Removal And Installation

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
Remove the front driveshaft shield nuts and the front driveshaft shield.
- To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

Index-mark the front driveshaft flange to the pinion flange to maintain alignment during installation.

Index-mark the rear driveshaft flange to the transfer case flange to maintain alignment during installation.

Remove the 4 driveshaft flange bolts from the transfer case
- To install, tighten to 103 Nm (76 lb-ft).

Remove the 4 driveshaft flange bolts from the pinion flange.
- To install, tighten to 103 Nm (76 lb-ft).
Remove and discard the 4 nuts from the front stabilizer bar brackets and lower the rear of the bar.
- To install, tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
Remove the front driveshaft.

CAUTION: If new bolts are not available, coat the threads of the original bolts with Threadlock and Sealer.

NOTE: Align the index marks made during removal.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install new driveshaft flange bolts.
