Pinpoint Test B: DTC U2511 - Data Mismatch (Receive Data Does Not Match Expected)

  1. B1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCS FROM THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND SELF-TESTS 
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: CLEAR DTCs.
    • Carry out the instrument cluster on-demand self-test.
    • Is DTC U2511 recorded? 

    Yes  : GO to B2.

    No  : The system is OK.

  2. B2 CLEAR THE PCM ID FROM THE PCM AND THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER 
    • CARRY OUT the parameter reset procedure for the instrument cluster and the PCM. Refer to PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (PATS) PARAMETER RESET .
    • Key in ON position.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: RETRIEVE DTCs.
    • Is DTC U2511 retrieved? 

    Yes  : VERIFY the PCM calibration is correct for the vehicle. If correct, INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER . TEST the system for normal operation. PROGRAM 2 keys. REFER to KEY PROGRAMMING USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT . CARRY OUT a parameter reset on both modules. Refer to PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (PATS) PARAMETER RESET . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. If DTC U2511 still exists, INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - 2.3L or ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - 3.0L (4V) . CARRY OUT a parameter reset on both modules. REFER to PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (PATS) PARAMETER RESET . TEST the system for normal operation. If the vehicle is equipped with the valet feature, PROGRAM the third PATS key (if available) or INSTRUCT the customer on how to carry out this procedure. REFER to KEY PROGRAMMING USING TWO PROGRAMMED KEYS .

    No  : The system is OK. CHECK for any other DTCs. REFER to the PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (PATS) - DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTC) INDEX .
