Normal Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Mercury Milan, 2006 Lincoln Zephyr, and 2006 Ford Fusion. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The passive anti-theft system (PATS) transceiver communicates with the PATS key. The instrument cluster carries out all of the PATS functions such as receiving the identification code from the PATS key and determining whether the key is a programmed key. The instrument cluster initiates the key interrogation sequence when the key is turned to the START or RUN position.
