Pinpoint Test N: The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Keypad Illumination Is Inoperative
- N1 CHECK CIRCUIT GD126 (BK/WH) FOR AN OPEN
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Keypad C530.
- Measure the resistance between the RKE keypad C530-3, circuit GD126 (BK/WH), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes : GO to N2.
No : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- N2 CHECK CIRCUIT CPK28 (WH) FOR AN OPEN OR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: SJB C2280c.
- Measure the resistance between the RKE keypad C530-6, circuit CPK28 (WH), harness side and ground; and between the RKE keypad C530-6, circuit CPK28 (WH), harness side and the SJB C2280C-13, circuit CPK28 (WH), harness side.
- Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms between the RKE keypad and ground, and less than 5 ohms between the RKE keypad and the SJB?
Yes : GO to N3.
No : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- N3 CHECK THE RKE KEYPAD ILLUMINATION
- Connect: Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Keypad C530.
- Connect a fused (5A) jumper wire between the SJB C2280c-13, circuit CPK28 (WH), harness side and the positive battery terminal.
- Does the RKE keypad illuminate?
Yes : GO to N4.
No : INSTALL a new RKE keypad. REFER to REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY KEYPAD . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- N4 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION
- Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
- Check for:
- Corrosion
- Pushed-out pins
- Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES . CYCLE each key to the ON position for a minimum of 6 seconds to program the RKE function of the integrated keys. INFORM the customer that any RKE transmitters not present need to be programmed. TEST the system for normal operation.
No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
