Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  2. Remove the hood latch. For additional information, refer to HOOD LATCH .
  3. Remove the 2 pin-type retainers and position the air deflector aside to reveal the hood latch release cable guide.
  4. Remove the 4 hood latch release cable guides.
  5. Remove the powertrain control module (PCM). For additional information, refer to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - GASOLINE ENGINES (gas) or ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - DIESEL ENGINE (diesel).
  6. Remove the A-pillar lower trim panel. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .
  7. Remove the 3 parking brake control nuts.
    • To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
  8. Position the parking brake control aside.
  9. Remove the E-clip, release the return spring and position the hood latch release handle aside.
  10. Release the hood latch release cable from the handle.
  11. Remove the hood latch release cable and dash panel grommet through the front of the vehicle.
  12. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
