Power Steering Pump Pulley: Removal

    Vehicles with 6.0L engine 

  1. Remove the engine cooling fan. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
  2. All vehicles 

    NOTE: Vehicle with air conditioning shown, vehicle without air conditioning similar.
  3. Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner and remove the accessory drive belt from the power steering pump pulley.
    • For vehicles with air conditioning, rotate the tensioner clockwise.
    • For vehicles without air conditioning, rotate the tensioner counterclockwise.

  4. Vehicles with 5.4L and 6.8L engine 

  5. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  6. All vehicles 

  7. Using the special tool, remove the pulley.
    • Inspect the pulley for paint marks in the web area near the hub. If there are 2 paint marks, discard the pulley. If there is no paint or 1 paint mark, use a paint pencil to mark the web area of the pulley near the hub.
