Removal and Installation

CAUTION: While repairing the power steering system, care should be taken to prevent the entry of contaminants or premature failure of the power steering components can result.

    All vehicles 

  1. Remove the air cleaner. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING .
  2. Using a suitable suction device, drain the power steering fluid reservoir.
  3. Release the clamp and disconnect the power steering fluid return hose.
  4. Release the clamp and disconnect the power steering fluid supply hose.
  5. Vehicles with Hydro-Boost® 

  6. Release the clamp and disconnect the power steering fluid reservoir-to-hydraulic booster supply hose.
  7. All vehicles 

    NOTE: The fluid reservoir bolts have a dry adhesive on the threads. The bolts must not be reused.
  8. Remove the 2 power steering fluid reservoir bolts.
    • Discard the bolts.
    • To install, tighten the new bolts to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
  9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
