Description & Operation

Power door lock system consists of power door lock switches, door lock actuators, and necessary wiring. Switches are located in front door trim panels. To lock all doors, press switch on either front door to LOCK position. To unlock all doors, press switch to UNLOCK position.

Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system consists of a Central Security Module (CSM), keyless entry keypad, hand-held RKE transmitter(s) and necessary wiring. RKE allows driver to lock and unlock driver's side door or all doors without a key and activate panic alarm. On early build vehicles, RKE will not function if ignition switch is in RUN or ACC positions. On late build vehicles, RKE will work regardless of ignition switch position.

To unlock driver's door, press UNLOCK button on RKE transmitter. This also disarms anti-theft system if equipped. To unlock all doors, press UNLOCK button twice within 5 seconds. Interior lights and key hole will illuminate when UNLOCK or PANIC button is pressed. To lock all doors, press LOCK button once. Horn will chirp and doors will lock. This arms anti-theft system if equipped and turns off interior and key hole lights. To confirm all doors are locked, press LOCK button again. Horn will chirp and doors will lock again. If any door is ajar when LOCK button is pressed on RKE transmitter, horn will chirp twice. To activate PANIC alarm, press PANIC button. Horn will chirp and exterior lights will flash for a maximum of 3 minutes. To deactivate PANIC alarm, press PANIC button again or turn ignition switch to RUN or ACC position.

Keyless entry keypad, located on outside of drivers' door can be used to lock or unlock driver's side door or all doors, turns interior lights on when doors are unlocked and off when doors are locked. Permanent entry code is located in glove box on wallet card and can also be accessed using New Generation Star (NGS) tester. After entering keypad code on driver's side door, press the 3/4 button within 5 seconds to open other doors. To lock all doors with keypad, press 7/8 and 9/0 buttons at same time.

Autolock feature will lock all doors automatically each time ignition switch is in RUN/ACC position and autolock is enabled, gear selector is shifted out of Park into any other gear position and when all doors are closed and driver releases brake pedal. After initial lock, all doors will automatically relock when any door is opened and then closed followed by brake pedal release and ignition switch is in RUN or ACC position. Autolock can be enabled or disabled.
