Rear Drive Shaft (Three-Piece): Installation

  1. Connect the coupling shaft to parking brake assembly. Install NEW coupling shaft-to-parking brake assembly bolts, but DO NOT tighten at this time. See Figure.
  2. Position the front center bearing support and install the bolts but DO NOT tighten at this time. See Figure. Tighten the coupling shaft-to-parking brake assembly bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Tighten center bearing support bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Position the center section drive shaft assembly and install the center bearing support bolts but, DO NOT tighten at this time.
  4. Connect the center section drive shaft assembly to the coupling shaft. Install the NEW center section drive shaft-to-coupling shaft "U" joint retainers and bolts. Tighten Center Section Drive Shaft-To-Coupling Shaft "U" Joint Retainer Bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Connect the rear drive shaft assembly to the rear axle pinion flange. Install the NEW rear drive shaft retainers and bolts and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Tighten the drive shaft center bearing support bolts to specification.
