Test E: No Power In Run Position

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect ignition switch harness connector C250. Measure voltage between ground and ignition switch harness connector C250 terminals B1 and B3 (both Yellow wires), and B4 and B5 (both Light Green/Violet wire). See Figure. If battery voltage exists at all terminals, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist at any terminal, repair open in appropriate wire. See POWER DISTRIBUTION in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
  2. Test ignition switch for proper operation. See IGNITION SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace as needed. If ignition switch is okay, inspect operation of back-up lights. If back-up lights do not operate, repair open or short in Red/Black wire at terminal A3 on ignition switch harness connector. If radio does not operate, repair open or short in Black/Light Green wire at terminal A1 on ignition switch harness connector. If instrument cluster does not operate, repair open or short in Dark Blue/Light Green wire at terminal I1 on ignition switch harness connector. If blower motor does not operate, repair open or short in Gray/Yellow wire at terminal A4 on ignition switch harness connector. See POWER DISTRIBUTION in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
