Normal Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis and 2006 Ford Crown Victoria. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Vehicles equipped with the police package have 2 luggage compartment release switches, 1 located on the instrument panel and 1 located on the LH door trim panel. The instrument panel switch is supplied voltage through 1 of the 2 circuits, circuit 193 (YE/LG) or 517 (BK/WH). If the switch receives voltage through circuit 193 (YE/LG), the switch receives voltage through the accessory delay relay and the switch is active only when the key is in the ON position, the key is in the OFF position and the doors have not been opened, or the key is in the OFF position and the accessory delay relay has not timed out. If the switch receives voltage through circuit 517 (BK/WH), the switch receives voltage directly from the battery junction box (BJB) and is active at all times. When the luggage compartment release switch is pressed the switch supplies voltage to circuit 84 (VT/YE ) sending voltage to the luggage compartment release solenoid releasing the luggage compartment lid. The luggage compartment release solenoid is grounded through circuit 57 (BK).
