Test S: Turn/Hazard Indicator Inoperative Or Always On

NOTE: After making any repairs, clear DTCs and perform self-test.
  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Operate both turn signals and hazard lights. If turn signals and hazard lights operate correctly, go to next step. If turn signals and hazard lights do not operate correctly, repair as necessary. See EXTERIOR LIGHTS in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL. For turn signal switch testing, see STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. For right hand indicator, disconnect instrument cluster 20-pin harness connector C238. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C238 terminal No. 7 (White/Light Blue wire) while multifunction switch is moved to right turn position. See Figure. For left hand indicator, disconnect instrument cluster 22-pin harness connector C237. Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C237 terminal No. 4 (Light Green/White wire) while multifunction switch is moved to left turn position. See Figure. Voltage should fluctuate between zero voltage with turn signal off and battery voltage with turn signal on. If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, repair open in White/Light Blue or Light Green/White wire between multifunction switch and instrument cluster. See EXTERIOR LIGHTS in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article ELECTRICAL.
  3. Disconnect all instrument cluster harness connectors. Inspect harness connectors for corrosion and pushed out pins. Connect all instrument cluster harness connectors, ensuring they are connected correctly. Operate system and verify if concern is still present. If concern is still present, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If concern is not present, system is operating correctly at this time. Clear DTCs and perform self-test.
