Normal Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Lincoln LS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the digital transmission range (TR) sensor. When the PCM detects the transmission in REVERSE, a signal is sent to the rear electronic module (REM) to illuminate the reversing lamps. Ground for the LH reversing lamp is sent through circuit 31S-LG9 (BK/GN) to the REM. Ground for the RH reversing lamp is sent through circuit 31S-LG16 (BK/RD) to the REM. The REM individually controls the ground circuits for the reversing lamps.
