Test G: Safety Belt Indicator Inoperative (Chime Okay)

NOTE:
All F150 Pickups with 4-wheel drive, and/or power windows, are equipped with a Generic Electronic Module (GEM). F150 2-wheel drive pickups without power windows are equipped with Central Timer Module (CTM).
NOTE:
After making any repairs, clear DTCs and perform self-test.
- If vehicle is equipped with Generic Electronic Module (GEM), go to next step. If vehicle is equipped with Central Timer Module (CTM), go to step 7.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below center of instrument panel, right of steering column. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Observe GEM PID SBLTLMP while toggling active command SBLTLIGHT OFF and ON. If GEM PID displays OFFO-G, go to next step. If GEM PID SBLTLMP displays OFF---, ON---, go to step 11. If GEM PID displays OFF-B-, go to step 5.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect GEM/CTM 26-pin harness connector C201a. GEM/CTM is located on back side of central junction box, under left side of instrument panel. Connect fused jumper wire (5-amp) between GEM/CTM 26-pin harness connector C201a terminal No. 12 (Dark Green/Light Green wire) and ground. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. See Fig 1. If seat belt indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. If seat belt indicator illuminates, go to step 11.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster 22-pin harness connector C220b. Measure resistance in Dark Green/Light Green wire between instrument cluster harness connector C220b terminal No. 10 and GEM/CTM 26-pin harness connector C201a terminal No. 12. See Figure and Fig 1 . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to step 12. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Dark Green/Light Green wire between instrument cluster harness connector C220b and GEM/CTM harness connector C201a.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C220b. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Observe GEM PID SBLTLMP while toggling active command SBLTLMP OFF and ON. If PID displays ON-B-, go to next step. If PID does not display as indicated, go to step 12.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect GEM/CTM 26-pin harness connector C201a. Measure voltage between ground and GEM/CTM harness connector C201a terminal No. 12 (Dark Green/Light Green wire). See Fig 1. If battery voltage exists, repair short to power in Dark Green/Light Green wire. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 11.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below center of instrument panel, right of steering column. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Observe CTM PID SBLTLMP while toggling active command SBLTLIGHT OFF and ON. If PID displays OFF---, ON---, go to next step. If PID does not display OFF---, ON---, go to step 11.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster 22-pin and 20-pin harness connectors C220b and C220a. Measure internal resistance of instrument cluster between 22-pin connector C220b terminal No. 10 (component side) and 20-pin connector C220a terminal No. 2 (component side). See Figure and Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to step 12.
- Disconnect GEM/CTM 26-pin harness connector C201a. Measure resistance in Dark Green/Light Green wire between instrument cluster 22-pin harness connector C220b terminal No. 10 and GEM/CTM 26-pin harness connector C201a terminal No. 12. See Figure and Fig 1 . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Dark Green/Light Green wire between instrument cluster and GEM/CTM.
- Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster 22-pin harness connector C220b terminal No. 10 (Dark Green/Light Green wire). If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step. If battery voltage exists, repair short to voltage in Dark Green/Light Green wire.
- Disconnect all GEM/CTM harness connectors. Inspect harness connectors for corrosion and pushed out pins. Connect all GEM/CTM harness connectors, ensuring they are connected correctly. Operate system and verify if concern is still present. If concern is still present, replace GEM/CTM. See GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE/CENTRAL TIMER MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If concern is not present, system is operating correctly at this time. Clear DTCs and perform self-test.
- Disconnect all instrument cluster harness connectors. Inspect harness connectors for corrosion and pushed out pins. Connect all instrument cluster harness connectors, ensuring they are connected correctly. Operate system and verify if concern is still present. If concern is still present, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If concern is not present, system is operating correctly at this time. Clear DTCs and perform self-test.
