Pinpoint Test A: ONE OR MORE MODULE-CONTROLLED ILLUMINATION SOURCE(S) IS INOPERATIVE

  1. A1 CHECK IF ONE OR MORE MODULE-CONTROLLED ILLUMINATION SOURCE(S) IS INOPERATIVE 
    • Turn the headlamps ON.
    • Place the dimmer switch in the maximum brightness position.
    • Is only one illumination component inoperative? 
    • Yes  : If the DM100i or the CDX6 audio unit is inoperative, INSTALL a new audio unit, REFER to AUDIO UNIT .

      For all other individual sources inoperative, GO to  A2.

    • No  : If the LH rear window control switch and the LH rear heated seat switch illumination controls are inoperative, GO to  A4.

      If the LH front window control switch, the memory set switch, the LH front door lock control switch, and the exterior mirror control switch illumination controls are inoperative, GO to  A6.

      If the RH front window control switch and the RH front door lock control switch illumination controls are inoperative, GO to  A8.

      If the RH rear window control switch and the RH rear heated seat switch illumination controls are inoperative, GO to  A10.

      If the steering wheel controls, the instrument panel dimmer switch, the headlamp switch, the message center switch, the instrument cluster, the adjustable pedal switch, the transmission selector lever, the traction control switch, the electronic park brake release switch, and the parking aid switch illumination controls are all inoperative, GO to  A14.

  2. A2 CHECK THE VOLTAGE CIRCUIT TO THE ILLUMINATION SOURCE IN QUESTION 
    • Turn the headlamps OFF.
    • Disconnect the inoperative illumination source connector.
    • Turn the headlamps ON.
    • Place the dimmer switch in the maximum brightness position.
    • Measure the voltage between the suspect illumination source, harness side and ground as follows:

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : GO to  A3.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. A3 CHECK THE GROUND CIRCUIT TO THE ILLUMINATION SOURCE IN QUESTION 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Turn the headlamps OFF.
    • Measure the resistance between the suspect illumination source, harness side and ground as follows:

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : INSTALL a new component as necessary.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. A4 CHECK CIRCUIT 64S-LH16A (BU/WH) FOR VOLTAGE 
    • Disconnect: LH Rear Window Control Switch C701.
    • Turn the headlamps ON.
    • Place the dimmer switch in the maximum brightness position.
    • Measure the voltage between the LH rear window control switch C701-4, circuit 64S-LH16A (BU/WH), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR ground circuit 31-LH16 (BK/OG). TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : GO to  A5.
  5. A5 CHECK CIRCUIT 64S-LH16 (BU/WH) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Turn the headlamps OFF.
    • Disconnect: Interior Auxiliary Junction Box C283b.
    • Measure the resistance between the LH rear window control switch C701-4, circuit 64S-LH16A (BU/WH), harness side and the interior auxiliary junction box C283b-10, circuit 64S-LH16 (BU/WH), harness side.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR or INSTALL a new interior auxiliary junction box. TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  6. A6 CHECK CIRCUIT 64S-LH14 (BU) FOR VOLTAGE 
    • Disconnect: LH Front Window Control Switch C504a.
    • Turn the headlamps ON.
    • Place the dimmer switch in the maximum brightness position.
    • Measure the voltage between the LH front window control switch C504a-4, circuit 64S-LH14 (BU), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR circuit 31-LH1 (BK/BU) or 31-AJ7 (BK/BU). TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : GO to  A7.
  7. A7 CHECK CIRCUIT 64S-LH1 (BU/RD) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Turn the headlamps OFF.
    • Disconnect: Interior Auxiliary Junction Box C283b.
    • Measure the resistance between the LH front window control switch C504a-4, circuit 64S-LH14 (BU), harness side and the interior auxiliary junction box C283b-1, circuit 64S-LH1 (BU/RD), harness side.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR or INSTALL a new interior auxiliary junction box. TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  8. A8 CHECK CIRCUIT 64S-LH31 (BU/RD) FOR VOLTAGE 
    • Disconnect: RH Front Window Control Switch C604.
    • Turn the headlamps ON.
    • Place the dimmer switch in the maximum brightness position.
    • Measure the voltage between the RH front window control switch C604-2, circuit 64S-LH31 (BU/RD), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR ground circuit 31-LH2 (BK/BU) or 31-LH31 (BK). TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : GO to  A9.
  9. A9 CHECK CIRCUIT 64S-LH2 (BU/RD) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Turn the headlamps OFF.
    • Disconnect: Central Junction Box (CJB) C270d.
    • Measure the resistance between the RH front window control switch C604-2, circuit 64S-LH31 (BU/RD), harness side and the CJB C270d-25, circuit 64S-LH2 (BU/RD), harness side.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to  A12.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  10. A10 CHECK CIRCUIT 64S-LH33A (BU/BK) FOR VOLTAGE 
    • Disconnect: RH Rear Window Control Switch C801.
    • Turn the headlamps ON.
    • Place the dimmer switch in the maximum brightness position.
    • Measure the voltage between the RH rear window control switch C801-4, circuit 64S-LH33A (BU/BK), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR ground circuit 31-LH33 (BK/GN). TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : GO to  A11.
  11. A11 CHECK CIRCUIT 64S-LH33 (BU/BK) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Turn the headlamps OFF.
    • Disconnect: Central Junction Box (CJB) C270d.
    • Measure the resistance between the RH rear window control switch C801-4, circuit 64S-LH33A (BU/BK), harness side and the CJB C270d-26, circuit 64S-LH33 (BU/BK), harness side.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to  A12.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  12. A12 CHECK CIRCUIT 64S-AD2 (BU/RD) FOR VOLTAGE 
    • Connect: CJB 270d.
    • Disconnect: Interior Auxiliary Junction Box C283b.
    • Turn the headlamps ON.
    • Place the dimmer switch in the maximum brightness position.
    • Measure the voltage between the interior auxiliary junction box C283b-11, circuit 64S-AD2 (BU/RD), component side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : GO to  A13.
    • No  : REPAIR or INSTALL a new interior auxiliary junction box.
  13. A13 CHECK CIRCUIT 64S-AD2 (BU/RD) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Turn the headlamps OFF.
    • Disconnect: CJB C270d.
    • Measure the resistance between the interior auxiliary junction box C283b-11, circuit 64S-AD2 (BU/RD), harness side and the CJB C270d-24, circuit 64S-AD2 (BU/RD), harness side.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR or INSTALL a new CJB.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  14. A14 CHECK THE INTERIOR AUXILIARY JUNCTION BOX ILLUMINATION 
    • Disconnect: Interior Auxiliary Junction Box C283b.
    • Turn the headlamps ON.
    • Place the dimmer switch in the maximum brightness position.
    • Measure the voltage between the interior auxiliary junction box C283b-9, circuit 64S-LH4 (BU/RD), component side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : GO to  A15.
    • No  : REPAIR or INSTALL a new interior auxiliary junction box. TEST the system for normal operation.
  15. A15 CHECK CIRCUIT 64S-LH4 (BU/RD) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Turn the headlamps OFF.
    • Disconnect: Interior Auxiliary Junction Box C283a.
    • Measure the resistance between the interior auxiliary junction box C283b-9, circuit 64S-LH4 (BU/RD), harness side and the interior auxiliary junction box C283a-13, circuit 64S-LH4 (BU/RD), harness side.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to  A16.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  16. A16 CHECK THE INTERIOR AUXILIARY JUNCTION BOX FOR AN OPEN 
    • Disconnect: Interior Auxiliary Junction Box C283d.
    • Measure the resistance between the interior auxiliary junction box C283a-13, circuit 64S-LH4 (BU/RD), component side and the interior auxiliary junction box C283d-13, circuit 64S-LK1 (BU/RD), component side; and between the interior auxiliary junction box C283a-13, circuit 64S-LH4 (BU/RD), component side and the interior auxiliary junction box C283a-5, circuit 64S-LK9 (BU/RD), component side.

    • Are the resistances less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : If the adjustable pedal switch, instrument cluster, message center, headlamp switch, instrument panel dimmer switch, steering wheel controls, and navigation audio unit (if equipped) illumination controls are inoperative, GO to  A17.

      If the transmission selector lever, traction control switch, electronic park brake release switch, and parking aid switch illumination controls are inoperative, REPAIR circuit 64S-LK9 (BU/RD).

      If the transmission selector lever, cigar lighter, and traction control switch illumination controls are inoperative, REPAIR circuits 31-HA6 (BK/YE), 31-LK21 (BK/GN) and 31-DA1 (BK/YE). TEST the system for normal operation.

    • No  : REPAIR or INSTALL a new interior auxiliary junction box. TEST the system for normal operation.
  17. A17 CHECK CIRCUIT 64S-LK1 (BU/RD) FOR OPEN 
    • Disconnect: Joint Connector 3 C224.
    • Measure the resistance between the interior auxiliary junction box C283d-13, circuit 64S-LK1 (BU/RD), harness side, and the joint connector 3 C224-13, circuit 64S-LK1 (BU/RD), harness side.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR or INSTALL a new joint connector 3.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
