Removal and Installation

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Drain the fuel tank. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
  3. Remove the driveshaft. For additional information, refer to DRIVESHAFT .
  4. Remove the 2 pin-type retainers and the bolt and position aside the fuel tube shield.
    • To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).

  5. Disconnect the vapor tube and the fuel supply tube quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
  6. Disconnect the fuel filler pipe hose from the fuel tank.
  7. Position a suitable lifting device to support the fuel tank.

  8. Remove the 2 fuel tank strap mounting bolts and position aside the 2 fuel tank straps.
    • To install, tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
  9. Disconnect the fuel tank electrical connector.
  10. Partially lower the fuel tank and disconnect the vapor tube quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .

  11. Remove the fuel tank.
  12. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Turn the ignition key to the ON position to pressurize the fuel system.
    • Visually inspect the fuel system for leaks.
