Removal and Installation

  1. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING  .
  2. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING .
  3. Disconnect the auxiliary coolant pump-to-thermostat housing hose and position aside.
  4. Remove the 2 lower radiator hose support bracket bolts.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  5. Disconnect the lower radiator-to-thermostat housing hose and position aside.
  6. Remove the 3 bolts and the thermostat housing.
    • Discard the thermostat housing O-ring seal.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Install a new thermostat housing O-ring seal and lubricate with clean engine coolant.
  8. Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING  .
