Description & Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Cruise control system consists in control switches (ON, OFF, SET/ACCEL, COAST and RESUME), servo/actuator assembly, Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) switch, Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch, deactivator switch and wiring. System is operational at speeds more than 30 MPH. When ON and SET/ACCEL switches have been pressed, vehicle speed will be maintained until new speed is set, brake or clutch pedal is pressed or OFF switch is pressed. To increase set speed, tap SET/ACCEL switch for one mph increments. To decrease set speed, tap COAST switch for one mph deceleration increments. When speed control system has been disabled by tapping brake pedal or tapping clutch pedal, depress RESUME switch and vehicle will return to original speed, if over 30 mph, and OFF switch has not been depressed. Cruise control uses deactivator switch to disable cruise if BPP switch is inoperative.
